Two recent graduates from Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna are representing Region IV-A for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP).

Masako Tawara (left), just finished her bachelor's degree in business administration and received an award as the college's magna cum laude this year when she was chosen for title. "We never expected this," Tawara says. "It's a very big blessing."

Another magna cum laude, Psychology major Kristine Joy Calayeg (right) said the recognition strengthened her resolve to serve the school and the community. “It feels good that I am able to give back to my school,” says Calayeg. “This is a very big bonus with all the programs we've initiated for the school and the community.”

Tawara and Calayeg are both advocates for women's rights and equal access to education before they were chosen for TOSP.

TOSP is a nationwide initiative to recognize exemplary student leaders who excel in their respective fields while pushing community and advocacy-based initiatives.  The two Lyceans will advance to the next round of screening in August to determine the 20 finalists for the national search. The TOSP finals  are in October
